Business Overview

Decision Management Group, Inc. (“DMG”) provides accounting and financial consulting services to clients in a variety of industries.  While we do not provide attest or tax services, we provide our clients with the support needed to resolve internal and/or external reporting issues, (including reporting of both accounting and key business data), special projects, compliance work, and preparation for an audit or income tax compliance undertaking.

DMG’s professionals have both public and industry experience, allowing them to understand your company’s data and the information needs of your management, auditors, banks, and investors.

Our Engagement Managers are full-time employees of DMG.  They follow the firm’s prescribed process, documenting their work in a manner consistent with methods used by public accounting firms.  They have the professional experience and access to the research tools necessary to document client positions on both GAAP and SEC-related accounting and disclosure matters.  In addition they are experienced with Sarbanes-Oxley, income tax and banking compliance issues.

Professional Qualifications

DMG was founded by two business executives who collectively have over 40 years of experience as a CFO, Treasurer and various finance-related management positions in both public and private companies.  In addition, both have Big 4 public accounting experience.  DMG’s Engagement Managers typically have both public accounting and private enterprise experiences, allowing them to understand both the client’s and the attest firm’s perspectives when they manage a job.  Full resumes of our professionals are available upon request.

Christine E. Shirley, Principal

Chris is a founding principal of Decision Management Group.  She has a diverse background in both public accounting as well as private industry and brings over 20 years of experience to the firm.  Chris is a CPA and holds a degree in Accounting from Youngstown State University. 

Chris has Big 4 public accounting experience.  She has also served as VP – Finance, CFO and Treasurer of private and publicly-traded companies and has significant experience in the insurance, staffing, telecommunication and real estate industries.  As a consultant, she has helped her clients by developing sophisticated financial projection models, researching and documenting complex accounting issues, developing and implementing controls for Sarbanes-Oxley, performing due diligence and integration work on acquisitions, assisting in lender negotiations, and developing business plans for small businesses.

Chris continues to be involved in her community. She chairs a variety of PTO committees, serves as Treasurer of her church, and is a former foster parent.

Derek J. Sachs, Engagement Manager

Derek has 18 years of experience in the insurance, financial services and real estate industries. He is a CPA and earned a degree in Finance from the University of South Florida.

Derek has worked in the personal financial planning, insurance and real estate industries and has served as Assistant Treasurer for a publicly-traded company.  His responsibilities included managing and planning client investment strategies; financial statement preparation; developing data warehouse systems and data migration; cash management; budgeting and forecasting.  As a consultant Derek has engineered the data flow processes necessary to perform data extractions from tens of thousands of tenant and landlord agreements.

Dawn Perkins, Engagement Manager

Dawn brings over 9 years of experience to the firm. She is a CPA and earned an MBA, Masters in Accountancy, and dual Accounting-Finance degrees from the University of South Florida.

Dawn began her career at a Big 4 public accounting firm where she performed audits in the healthcare, public sector, and financial services industries. She then transitioned her career to private industry, working primarily in manufacturing and healthcare environments. Her responsibilities included building and maintaining financial databases to streamline and control reporting, performing financial analytical reviews, reconciliations and clean-up of complex accounts, and performing month-end closing processes. She is also responsible for IT system conversions, data migration, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing and year-end audit work.
